Long time, no post….and a few updates

It’s been a while since I’ve made any type of new post. The new owner will be taking over soon, probably no later than the end of August. I’ve been extremely busy between work, family, and moving to a new place.

There will be custom Rowdy Highgear racers made, but instead of the 25 I previously talked about, there will now only be 5 and 1 chase car. There will be 5 pearl white (different from the white prototype) racers and 1 chrome chase racer. Details on when and where they will be sold will be forth coming.

I am also clearing out a LOT of my collection. If anyone is interested in buying any of my stuff straight up, email me before Monday as that is when I will start listing stuff on Ebay.

The Drive In will continue on

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Drive In Gallery will continue on. Pitstop over at carsthetoys.com (AL-V) and I have agreed to terms for him to take ownership and control of the Drive In domain and hosting. I will stay on for a couple of months to help Pitstop with any technical issues he may have and to make sure everything transitions smoothly. I wasn’t planning on letting the Drive In go to just anyone. I know that with Pitstop’s great desire for the Cars line, it will be in good hands. I know he will do a great job in continuing what I started over 2 years ago. I know he has some ideas for the site, but it will all get worked out as the months progress. Our goal is to transition everything over so nothing is interrupted. I just do not have the time nor the drive anymore to devote what is needed to the Drive In website.

The end of the road

As much as I hate to type this, it’s time to realize this is the end of the road for the Drive In Gallery. I have been going back and forth with this decision for several months and finally realized I just need to end it and be done. My time is now limited due to bigger projects at work. Because of my limited free time, I now spend every moment I have with my wife and 3 year old son as they are the most important things in my life. My son’s interest in Cars has waned some which has in turn taken me away from it as well. I’m sure when Cars 2 comes out, the interest will be there again.

I’m sure you’ve noticed the website hasn’t been updated in some time. This is due to my lack of time and interest to work on it. I was working on a new layout to help spark my interest again, but it just didn’t work. The Lenticular series, the Color Changers, and the same release after release of the same old thing also have been another cause of my loss of interest. I’m not gonna force myself to keep going with something I don’t have my heart in anymore. I even planned on producing the Drive In custom racer Rowdy Highgear to spark some new interest back in the site, but that didn’t do it either. I’ve had 1 prototype I’ve been working on for a few months that I just cannot get motivated to finish and I doubt it ever will. I will also be selling off most of my collection on Ebay in the coming weeks too.

Now with all of the above being said, here is where I am at. I would love to see someone take the Drive In and continue on with it. So the domain name and all files I have for the website are for sale. I had not planned on selling my hosting service with it, but if the offer is right I will sell the hosting service agreement too. If no one has come forward to purchase any of the material by April 30, 2010, the Drive In site will go down and be removed from the net. Rowdy Highgear is nearing the checkered flag

Back in October I presented you with the image below of Rowdy Highgear, the Cars Drive In Gallery Piston Cup racer. Well I’m glad to say he is almost here. I should have a prototype in my hands this weekend and will preview pictures hear at the Drive In Blog. All of the artwork is completed and the cars are in the build process as we speak. There will be 50 regular cars made, 5 chrome chase cars, and 1 black chrome chase car. I’ve had a lot going on lately, working on new things for the site (which is why its behind on many updates), family and work obligations, and surgery on my left arm, which has all kept me behind on a lot. However Rowdy is gonna be here soon so stay on the lookout for updates.

It’s that time again

It’s about that time again for me to renew the hosting on the site. I have gone quite a while without any donations which is fine. The cost to run this site is pretty high. I don’t ask for any member fees or anything. If you could make a donation though, that would help out with the site. Also look for a new giveaway coming soon.

Lots of new stuff going on

OK first off I know I’ve been away for a while. I’ve got a lot of images to get uploaded to update the Drive In. But now on to the good stuff. I’ve seen a ton of pics of new stuff coming and let me tell you it is fantastic!! The KMart days this year are looking very good. I should have some better info on those events soon. I’ve seen several new haulers which are superb. And by far the best new car to come out will be the one and only Tokyo Mater. From what I have seen of it, it’s gonna sell like hot cakes. The Bulldozer for El Materdor looks very promising also. And finally the prototype Rowdy Highgear Drive In Gallery racer is in the works so I should have pics of it soon. All for now. Flames McQueen

Soon to be finished is a Flames Lightning McQueen I have been working on in what little spare time I have. I’ve been super busy with end of the year stuff at work, projects at home, and have also been sick. I have 2-1/2 weeks off at the end of the year to work around the house and hopefully get the Drive In caught up to date.

Added some more decals over my lunch hour.

Some new CARS coming soon

My good buddy Craig of Craig’s Cars Pitstop sent me some new cars we will be seeing soon. In the pics below you will see Mega Size Bessie, Mater the Greater McQueen with firing rockets, and Antonio Veloce Eccellente. These cars are very nice looking. Antonio has a nice pearlescent paint job. Rockets McQueen is simply outstanding. The detail on the rockets is superb as is the graphics on McQueen. And last but not least is Bessie. There is a lot of diecast in Bessie because she is heavy. I think she still could have been a bit bigger, but she looks great anyway. Enjoy the pics.

The Drive In Gallery Gil’s are here. These are limited to just 3 copies and are individually numbered. All 3 will be auctioned off separately. What’s the special announcement? #1 of the 3 Gils will be auctioned off starting tomorrow (Friday) at 12PM CST on Ebay and 50% of the proceeds will be donated straight to the Cars Cares program. Cars Cares is a great program providing Cars toys and merchandise to kids who need their spirits raised and uplifted. So let’s make this one a good one and help out the Cars Cares program. I will update the blog entry tomorrow with a link to the auction for the first ever Drive In Gil.
